Sarah + Sam // Snowy Day Engagement Session // Highland Park + Lamberton Conservatory

March 29th, 2022

We planned this engagement session with Spring weather in mind. Just like all things in life, it did not go as planned. Freezing cold temperature and wind chill kept us indoor for most of the session. We made the best of the situation and turned the whole session into a fun and heart-warming experience, not that it's never fun at my engagement session haha.

Sarah and Sam taught me that day that I need to slow down and take in the brighter, happier moments in life even when things don't go according to plan. This was my way when I first started my photography journey and somewhere along the line I forgot about it. I put a time frame on my session and usually racing against it, my couples love their photos but something was missing for me, the connection between my couples and I. These days, it is easy for us to forget that real connection. We replace it with thumb-up emojis and little hearts that fade away when there aren't as many of them like we hoped. I found that connection again on this day, when I came to meet them with just one camera, one lens and all my effort to get to know them and their beautiful love story.

But this blog is not about me, it should be about Sam and Sarah, and how they warmed their hearts just by the way they looked at each other . That real (and seem to be forgotten) connection I always look for at all my sessions was there, in front of me like a reminder of why I love what I do. I am excited to be a part of their most special day of their life this October, and tell their story through my perspective...
